A huge congratulations to our latest client of the month, Lucas Ballasy. Lucas has a history of fitness after dedicating years to powerlifting, strongman, cycling competitions but found himself with no direction.

He loved the physical side to his training but wanted to learn more about all elements of fitness and with that, his physique to be in the best form possible.

Working with our amazing coach Ash, Lucas has dropped an incredible 30lbs, starting at 156 and no sits at 128. With a new baby, Lucas’s biggest challenge was routine but with Ash, we created the ultimate program that allowed for a healthy and impactful work/family/fitness life balance.

“I think the biggest win is actually seeing how far my physique has come” – Lucas

Next up, Lucas plans to maintain his newfound fitness while adding some size! He also looks forward to putting his strength to the test in upcoming endurance competitions like Hyrox.

Take a look at our Q&A with the latest client of the month.

When did you join Physique Academy?

  • First check-in was October 31, 2023

Why did you join Physique Academy?

  • I’d been working out diligently for a while, competing in everything from powerlifting to strongman to cycling events, but hit a point where I felt lost
  • At the end of the day, I just want to be the healthiest and strongest version of myself (and look good, too!)
  • I was part of a barbell club prior to the pandemic and loved having a coach, needed to get back to that with different goals
  • We welcomed our son, Mylo, and I used this as an opportunity to reset
  • I had to be more diligent about how I spent my time and my workouts started feeling like they had less purpose — I was finding programs online but not sure how they aligned with my goals
  • Nutrition-wise, I started tracking macros (again) and bulked but not properly, so I was getting bigger and adding fat.
  • Given my experience training and following tight nutrition protocols, I knew I had the habit and discipline to get results but was lacking a guide to help me get there.

What have you achieved both physically and personally since joining the academy?

  • Dialling in my routine in a way that suits my goals feels really good both in how I structure my day and diet.
  • Seeing how far my physique has been incredibly rewarding. Prior to getting into fitness, I felt like I could never achieve a body like this then once I did, I wasn't sure how to get there.
  • Becoming the family chef has been fun, too - curating meals for the week and experimenting with healthy ingredients.

What is your ultimate fitness goal?

  • Near-term is continuing to push strength and endurance in new ways, like competing in Hyrox in June.
  • Long-term, I want to live a long, healthy life, be able to keep up with my kids as I get older and look amazing at every stage.

In what other areas of your life has Physique Academy helped you improve?

  • Mentioned above but overall structure to my day and making health/fitness a priority.

Would you recommend Physique Academy?

  • Yes.

What gets you motivated to complete the programme to best of your ability?

  • Amazed at what's been possible in a relatively short amount of time so I'm just eager to keep pushing and can only imagine what can come out of the coming phases.

Is there something fitness related you can do now you couldn’t do before joining Physique Academy?

  • I've never been a big runner, but it's been cool to get into running and push myself. Always surprised by how much I'm able to push and excited to see what comes from Hyrox.

How important is a routine for you?

  • Very important. To me, flexibility and results only work together if you have a plan and structure to modify and make deviations work. I find that a routine actually frees me up to make other decisions and not have to remake decisions around stuff I prioritize like health and fitness.

What has been your highlight of working with Physique Academy?

  • Probably the final days leading up to end of Phase 1. It was a time to take a step back and look at how far I've come while also feeling major momentum to close things out on a high.
  • Also always look forward to check-ins and hearing what perspective Ashley has to offer.

What’s next on your fitness journey?

  • Competing in Hyrox!
