Why did you join?
A huge congratulations to our latest Client of the Month, Joe Schafer. Joe has been working alongside Coach Kris to break through challenges and achieve incredible results. “I would find myself staring at my abs for like 10 minutes at a time,” Joe said after losing 35 lbs and finally revealing a leaner physique. He had been trying for a while, but he couldn’t figure out the diet part. Even though he’d been lifting for years and felt physically strong, knowing how to eat to get shredded was confusing.
Joe's goal was simple: lose fat while maintaining as much strength as possible. So Kris did what he does best—created a bespoke training and nutrition plan to get the fat off, with clear A-to-B goals to keep him focused.
We caught up with the award-winning client to find out more about his journey.
Why did you join?

How did you hear about Physique Academy?
I saw my friend Nick have an amazing transformation with Kris and decided to reach out to him and hear his story. I immediately decided to do it.
Main reason for joining?
My entire life, I’ve never been able to get below a certain body fat percentage or achieve the lean image I wanted. I’d been lifting for years and considered myself strong but had never been able to figure out the diet piece. Whenever I would get stronger, the fat would build as well, and I felt stuck. I wanted a professional to help me achieve the image I always desired for myself.
How do I feel about myself and my current situation, both physically and mentally, that pushed me to join?
I feel extremely accomplished and could not be happier about the decision I made to sign up.
What was your initial fitness goal? And now?
My initial goal was just to be strong and lean with low body fat. I didn’t know exactly what that would look like, but Kris set clear goals from the very beginning, and we tracked them throughout the process. Now that the cutting phase is complete, I want to get stronger and have that musculature show through in my body.
What was my biggest challenge, and how did I overcome it? How did my coach help?
My biggest challenge was at the end of the cutting phase. After losing the amount of weight that I did and being on food restriction for so long, my mental resilience and motivation were slipping. I knew I only had a short time left, so I pushed through it. Kris would constantly reinforce a positive attitude and remind me that there was an end in sight that would make this struggle all worth it.
What is the biggest win during the program?
I still remember the day when I saw abs in the mirror for the first time in my life. I flexed my torso, and there they were, making a very quiet appearance. Over the weeks, they started getting more and more pronounced. During these days, it was so difficult for me to pull away from the mirror. I would find myself staring at my abs for like 10 minutes at a time.
How else has the program helped in other areas of your lifestyle?
I now have immense confidence when I walk around in public. Perhaps too much, lol. The endless compliments I now receive from my friends have also bolstered that confidence.
Would I recommend Physique Academy?
Yes. I couldn’t recommend it enough. I’ve already referred three people to the program. You cannot doubt the results the program claims to achieve—they are right there in front of you. What’s next on my fitness journey, and what would I like to achieve?
We are now done with the cutting phase of the program. I am extremely excited to begin the next phase, which is muscle growth, and I cannot wait to see how my strength and body progress.
